Good quality glitter liners are really hard to come by. MAC occasionally has some but they're typically Limited Edition. Plus, I'm not exactly in love with theirs. Urban Decay and NYX also both have some as well. Personally I love NYX Candy Glitter liners.
Here though, is a way to make any color glitter liner that your heart desires.
You'll need:
-cosmetic glitter of your choice
-loose eyeshadow/pigment of your choice
-Glitter Adhesive (Sally Girl Gel Adhesive for glitter---less than $2.00)
--any eye makeup brush
Start with a small amount of the glitter gel on a hard surface or even your hand.
Sprinkle your choice of glitter...
and mix using the brush.
Your result is a clear based gel with your glitter. Perfect, but there is a way to kick up and customize the glitter liner even more by creating a colored base.
Pick up a very small amount of your pigment with the brush...
and mix it into your existing glitter liner.
Now you have the final product! A glitter liner WITH a colored base~
There really are endless possibilities. Here I've mixed a black pigment/pink glitter, purple pigment/red glitter, and a silver pigment/gold glitter, which is perfect for the holidays.

This is great!! I wonder how well it would work with a mixing medium instead of glitter gel? I can't wait to try it!
I love the sally glitter gel...and can't beat 99 cent price tag!!!
Ooooh I love this idea! Great post.
I need to pick up sally glitter gel!
This is a GREAT idea!
Great idea! I don't really care for the MAC glitter liners either. Kori xoxo
great idea! Thanks for sharing.
I mix my own liners using glitter all the time but for some reason it never occurred to me to use a pigment as a base color for the liner!
Awesome :D
Thanks for sharing, they look spectacular!
so pretty! thanks for the great tip :D

come on over and accept your award
whoa the colour looks super gorgeous :D
great idea, those are gorgeous! question... can you make this in a batch and store it in maybe a small pigment jar without it drying out? Or do you just make it when you need it? thanks in advance.
@xLovelyMakeupX Thanks lovely! I'll take a look ASAP! :)
@Mz. More I haven't tried but I'm pretty sure you can store them in a jar. I don't see a problem with it and actually that's a pretty good idea :) Just be sure to close it tightly so they don't dry out.
What a great idea, I use glitter as liner with eyelash adhesive but I never thought to mix it with a pigment to make glitter liner. I'm thinking of all of the pigments and glitters I have and how many different liners I could make.....
Thanks for sharing!
thank you so much. I am going to try this.
@Cynthia I completely forgot about using eyelash adhesive! I'm going to have to try that too. Thanks! :)
And you're welcome Mz. More!
This is such a great idea, I'm totally gonna try! Thank you for sharing it! I definitely need to get that glitter gel.
this is sooo cool. I just bought a couple of nyx candy liners so I'm excited to see how they turn out. I really want to try this now too.
Hi,
I enjoy your blog and just wanted to let you know that I nominated you for an award.
Amazing. Love this idea. You're a beauty genius!
This is a great post. I didn't have Sally's glitter gel so I used Medusa's makeup glitter gel and it worked out nicely. I can save a lot of cash making my own glitter liner. Thanks a million!!!
wow this is super nice. I think it is even prettier than some of the high end glitter liners Ive bought. And you can make whatever color you want. nice.

I love!!! Luxuous!
where I buy the gel adhesive?
Thanks,
Kitana
What a great tutorial!
Kitana...the adhesive is sold at Sally's. It should be in the front of their store near the cash registers.
LOve this!!!
I love this post!! Especially since some of the glitter liners I've seen for sale are ~$15 each!
I recently discovered Sally Beauty too, and I love their prices and products :)
LOVE THIS!!
